| 13. How often should the timer be set to come on? |
Let nature be your guide. In early spring, 2-3 times a day for 45-60 seconds should be adequate. As different pests swarm or become active, you may increase or decrease the number of sprays you use. You should never need to exceed 6 times per a 24-hour period. |
| |
| 14. How long before I have to refill ? |
The frequency of re-filling your system will depend upon the number of nozzles, the number of sprays per 24 hours, the severity of the insect problem and the length of each spray cycle. Our finely machined spray nozzles each emit approximately 1.1 ounces per minute at 200 PSI. The average customer sprays about four minutes total per day. This equates to a usage of about one-gallon per nozzle per month. All systems are protected by an automatic shut off that keeps the system from running when the tank is dry, therefore protecting your pump from being destroyed. The system shuts itself off when the liquid level is too low. |
| |
| 15. What type of maintenance does the system require? |
All maintenance will be done by Mosquiteer Insect Misting Systems. You should rinse your intake filter (hangs inside the drum) each time you refill your drum. Washing your intake filter prevents clogging of your nozzle tips and filters. Your tank should be washed out at least once a year to remove any natural bacterial growth or residue accumulation. When refilling your system, check to assure pressure is set under 200 PSI. This prolongs the life of your pump. If at all possible, use softened or filtered water to prolong the life of your tips and filters. Overall, if it is properly maintained, the system's operation should be lifelong promising. |

Pyrethrum is one of the Mosquiteer system mist solutions, which is a natural botanical insecticide derived from dried Chrysanthemum flowers. It is widely used in horticulture and by organic crop farmers to control leaf hoppers and other insects. Dr. Ray Thompson explains that Pyrethrum is used in sensitive applications such as neighborhood and community fogging. Other uses include post-harvest treatment of fruits and vegetables, shampoos for pets, sprays and fogs for farms and dairies and to protect stored food products. The Pyrethrum is heavily diluted, making a water-based spray that is biodegradable and does not leave a residue. Research demonstrates that Pyrethrum has been used around humans and mammals since the mid 1800s. |

|
| |
| 22. What is the difference between Pyrethrin and Pyrethroids? |
Pyrethrins are all natural insecticides derived directly from the chrysanthemum flower. On the other hand, Pyrethroids are a synthetic lab produced insecticides which contain petroleum distillates. Each of these insecticides have distinct properties, hence, their area of application are distinct. For example, pyrethroids are often used in misting system applications, such as, horse barns, dog kennels, and harsh spider infestations. If horses were treated with all natural water based pyrethrin, the product would biodegrade quickly, within 15 minutes, in the ultraviolet daylight. Many public county mosquito control systems incorporate many synthetic pyrethroids in their fogging solution as to prolong its effect. In most residential applications, we favor natural pyrethrins, as the misting solution of choice. The water based solutions are sufficient for controlling insects, so it is not necessary to use synthetic pyrethroids.
